hello! [Aug. 26th, 2008|04:27 pm]
Deaf Education

Hi, my name is Meg and I just started working in the field of Deaf Education here in SE Mass :)

I know I want to go to grad school for Deaf Ed, just a matter of money/loans etc...but it's definetely where my heart's at. Currently, I am going to be subbing on an as needed basis for a collaborative deaf/hh program, as well as being a 1-on-1 aide for a deaf boy, AS WELL as administering speech services haha, have my plate full I suppose!

Before that, I started working in the same deaf/hh collaborative program this past January and absolutely loved it.

Any opinions on good grad programs locally? I was planning on attending BU within a few years part time :)

If you want an ASL/Bi-bi program, BU is the way to go! ';o)

Welcome to the community!

You might look into what your school system offers. I know my school system will help me pay for nearly 70% of grad school costs if/when I decide to go.

Looks like you've got your hands full indeed! :)

Will you be using sign or does the kid mostly use speech?

I know I kinda hoping to investigate that whole payment option asap haha :)

I honestly don't really know, but I'm very excited to start with him! One of my friends from undergrad was his 1 on 1 so I'm waiting for my contract to come through and then get in touch with her to find out all the ins and outs about the kiddo :) she no longer can work with him bc shes going onto grad school for speech pathology.
